Two deals announced this summer show how quickly Germany’s business charging market is consolidating. On July 8, 2026, electrive reported that Cubos is acquiring TotalEnergies’ German B2B charging business. On September 2, 2026, it reported that Austria’s EVN is buying BayWa Mobility Charging.
Cubos Buys TotalEnergies’ German B2B Charging Unit
- The unit includes about 6,000 AC and DC charging points and more than 1,000 business customers.
- After the deal, Cubos will operate about 15,000 charging points in Germany with around 500 employees.
- It is Cubos’s third acquisition in six months, after Swarco and ChargeOne.
- Cubos was founded in Wolfsburg in 2018. Financial terms were not disclosed.
EVN Acquires BayWa Mobility Charging
- EVN, through EVN Energieservices, is acquiring 170 high-power charging points at 30 sites, rated up to 400 kW and mostly in Bavaria.
- The pipeline targets 54 sites and 306 high-power charging points by 2027.
- The business includes a stake in the government-backed Deutschlandnetz fast-charging program covering 20 sites.
- BayWa is selling as part of a restructuring following financial difficulties announced in March 2026.

What It Means for Buyers
Consolidation means fewer, larger operators managing workplace, fleet and public sites. Those operators set stricter requirements for hardware: OCPP compatibility, remote diagnostics, standardized installation and long-term spare parts. Manufacturers and distributors selling into Germany should expect more tenders with detailed back-end and certification requirements. See our Germany market page.
