Singapore now has 34,700 electric vehicle charging points, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on World EV Day, September 9, 2026, as reported by AsiaOne. More than 4,000 points were added in the past four months alone.
Key Figures
- 34,700 charging points island-wide, up from more than 30,500 in May 2026.
- A 2030 target of 60,000 points: 40,000 in public car parks and 20,000 on private premises.
- The EV population reached 82,100 in August 2026, up from 57,200 in 2025.
- EVs made up 63% of new car registrations from January to August 2026, compared with 45% in 2025.
- Every HDB town will have at least one fast-charging hub by the end of 2027, with 6 to 8 points at 50 kW each.
- The EV early adoption incentive, capped at S$7,500, ends on January 1, 2027.
Where the Next 25,000 Points Will Go
Reaching 60,000 points by 2030 means roughly 25,000 more, much of it AC and 50 kW DC Type 2 hardware in public and private car parks, including condominiums. All chargers must be type-approved by the LTA before they can be supplied and installed, and registered before use.

What It Means for Buyers
For distributors and installers, the most active segments are condominium car parks and HDB estates, where load-managed AC chargers dominate. Our Singapore market page explains LTA type approval and registration, and our apartment and condo charging solutions cover shared parking.
