Tesla vehicles use different charging connectors depending on where they are sold. That matters for drivers buying a home charger and for distributors choosing which products to stock. The short version: NACS in North America, Type 2 in Europe and many other markets.
Connectors by Region
| Region | AC charging | DC fast charging |
|---|---|---|
| North America | NACS (SAE J3400) | NACS |
| Europe | Type 2 (IEC 62196-2) | CCS2 |
| Australia and New Zealand | Type 2 | CCS2 |
| China | GB/T | GB/T |
Always check the exact vehicle market version, as imported cars may differ.
North America: NACS Is Now the Norm
Tesla’s connector was standardised as SAE J3400, known as NACS, and many automakers have moved to it. A NACS charger plugs straight into a Tesla. Non-Tesla cars with a J1772 port can use NACS chargers through an adapter where the carmaker allows. EVDANCE NACS products include the EV-ACS4005T 40A portable charger, the EV-ACS3210T 32A portable charger and the EV-ACT5006T 48A wall station.

Europe: Standard Type 2
In Europe, Teslas use the same Type 2 inlet as other EVs, so any Type 2 wallbox or portable charger works. Many European Teslas accept 11 kW on three-phase AC. The EV-ACT3204E wallbox and EV-ACT3204PE portable charger both use Type 2.
Extension Cables and Adapters
Use only adapters and extension cables designed for EV charging and rated for the current. Our NACS extension cable news and extension cord safety advisory cover the difference between EV-rated extensions and household cords.
For Distributors
Stock NACS products for the US and Canada, Type 2 for Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, and check local demand elsewhere. Our USA supplier page and country pages list suitable products by market.
